You may remember my quick little morning post last week I'd made regarding a freezing cold day that was planned with my friend Tim. Well, contrary to sanity, we did in fact hit the water, and despite sub-freezing temperatures that we endured all day, the fishing was good. While we didn't see any large fish (the biggest was probably 15" at the absolute most), I'll take it considering the weather. We just bundled up, took a couple little breaks from casting to warm up the hands, and we did okay.

A few days later the weather perked up, and I was lucky enough to head out with Trev for a couple hours. We fished a local lake form the shore, and while the fish in this particular pond get up to only a couple pounds, we did better than you'd expect, not going more than a few minutes before one of us got into a fish, and it just went on like that for our entire stay. We each got a pretty good trout, too, and a host of smaller fish on little shrimp patterns.
And the day was pleasant, about 14˚C, too.
The next day I got out with my dad, and we decided to go to a quiet lake kind of near home (about an hours drive), and seeing as it was to be the last really fishable day for a while (you know, 9˚C, and not gale force winds), we pulled out all the stops, which pretty much included lots of coffee, a fully loaded boat, and just some rural good cheer.
It was a good day to be out, despite the fact that the weather didn't ever get really nice (I wore a touque all day). We got lots of rainbows from 12-16 or 17 inches, and a few smaller ones on little leeches and other generic sorts of lake flies. It was just nice to get out with the old man, and hopefully we get out hunting together once or twice this fall.
